There is nothing wrong with aspiring to do more academically. While those jobs are important they are hard on the body and potentially very dangerous. There is nothing wrong with wanting more for your child. However if that’s where your child’s life leads, don’t be a prick.
I think the point is that she told her kid that in an extremely demeaning way. “Or, you’ll end up like him.” Wanting more for your kid is one thing. Being a snooty, classist bitch is another.
Reminds me of this:
Yes, I agree whole heartedly with the sentiment of not being a classist bitch, but also personally, I don’t want my child, if I choose to have one, to be a construction worker, a garbage man, a police officer, a firefighter or anything like that. Because it’s dangerous.
I understand both sides of the argument, and blue lady is clearly a bitch, but orange lady is also bitchy, and I don’t totally agree with her either.
I understand that fear, believe me, but ultimately, it’s their future, their life, their decision.
Of course, absolutely let your child realistically dream and follow that course, however as their mother, I will likely encourage a job in the STEM field, preferably at a desk or in a lab. After all, I can help them with assignments, connections, and job opportunities.
This is one of the best stories we read in a long time. An arborist AKA a tree caretaker and tree surgeon from Redondo Beach, California had to watch the death of one of his favorite trees, which was ordered by the mayor. Although he lost a great battle, he won the war. Find out how he avenged the death of his 30-year-old pepper tree named Clyde.
His story was recently shared online and has already been shared over 150k times. RIP Clyde.
